Waylon Wyatt Kansas City Concert reviews
Aerosmith, a farewell tour?
1. More than likely, a combination of both, however, it seemed as though either the Houston heat and humidity were taking their toll or the fact that the bad boys from Boston can be card carrying members of the AARP.
2. I did find it frustrating that the video crew is either unfamiliar with the music or didn't know the set because 90% of the time when Brad would step up to play a lead line, the cameras were focused on Joe.
3. The show was great. Steven never stopped dancing around stage in his trademark mannerism, but he did slow down as the evening progressed.
4. Two noteable moments were when Brad Whitford's son came out and played along with the guys on Come Together, and when Steven came out for there first encore, walked down the runway almost to the end then turned around and started back and was met halfway by his stage hand with his mic stand.
5. The over all sound quality of the show was not the best mix that I've heard from them. Everytime Joe would step up to the mic you'd have to listen really hard because I for one could barely hear what he was saying.
6. As the encores progressed it seemed to me that they weren't playing from a set list anymore. The quality of their playing ability and the chemistry between them have never been less than amazing.
7. Yet the entire evening seemed to have an air of something different. Since Steven's injury last year that ended the '09 tour, the rumors that he had left the band, Joe's solo project and the new rumor that Steven is being considered as a judge for Idol, just telecasted a feeling of goodbye from the boys.
8. They would huddle together on stage, Steven going to Joe and then back and forth between Joey, Tom, and Brad as if to confirm the next song. Then they would hammer out some oldies but goodies out of their inventory of classics like S.O.S Too Bad from the Get Your Wings album.
9. Tom hammered out his bass lines in his ever great professionalism, though he looks to be losing more weight which makes one wonder about how he is doing with his medical issues.
10. Joey seemed to be right on time as usual, and he pounded out a good old fashioned drum solo which included a 'no stick' beating of the skins. Yet he too is showing his age.
